From the "more excited about the opening bands" folder:

On Friday night, on the way home from a kegger that got broken up by the police (I was first in line for the bathroom and got kicked out of the house, damn my luck!), after deciding not to hit the bars downtown because the lines were huge (Homecoming Weekend will do that, methinks) we decided to swing into Alfie's (a campus bar about which nobody gives two shits), where The Miniatures happened to be playing. Signs around campus advertised a $5 cover, but we got in for free. Probably to encourage us to go in; there was no more than 20 other people in there, including bartenders and security. Ouch. We snagged a table right in front of the stage and enjoyed the show. Hey, even Chart says that they're pretty good. Afterwards, the singer Ian came up and introduced himself and thanked us for staying. I have to admit that at first we stayed out of pity, but piping some Jack Daniels into my veins made it no hardship to stay. It was fun. Halfway through, the guys all playing pool left, so there were seriously about 15 people watching the band. Bartenders, security, sound guy, merch girl, opening band and us. Ha! Private show!
So David Usher is playing here tonight. Of course, I already knew that from all the signs around campus. But I don't think I'm going. Even though he is pretty hot. And even though I have met his father (that was so weird). Even though he's probably going to play a couple Moist songs. I don't care. He completely butchered If You Tolerate This Your Children Will Be Next, and for that there is no excuse.
On that note, can we stop getting all these Canadian acts through here and get a few decent American ones in? Pretty pretty fucking please?

This rings eerily familiar. That said, I would like to take a moment to apologize to The Walkmen on behalf of my country for our seeming inability to get them onstage on time, and at a decent time, to give them a set longer than the openers'. Sorry, guys. That said, would you mind swinging through Kingston at some point? I'd really like to catch you guys again.

Awesome, it looks like Four Thousand, Seven Hundred and Sixty-Six Seconds: A Short Cut to Teenage Fanclub is getting a domestic release. Glad I didn't buy the import!

Holy Jesus, Pete Libertines gets six months being someone's bitch! They're appealing it, but...
